There is no way to answer this. It's 100% an individual response, not general. (NT)No name

Which titleholders do you think had their win “go to their head”? (NT)Can’t help but think winning any title will change you somehow

There is a book by William Goldman who judged Miss America the year Gretchen won. It is titled “Hype and Glory” and since no one mentioned it, it may have been forgotten by people on this board. I believe the book discusses the selection of Gretchen that year In an honest manner. It is not a flattering account. (NT)No name

No- I live in a state (WA) where it is common for girls to compete for multiple titles, even multiple seasons, before they win their first local title. For the girls that compete year after year, the local board they work alongside is just as much of a prize as the title and the ticket to state. WA state is lucky to be full of local titleholders who are lot only grateful to be holding the title, but excited and honored to uphold the job associated. The WA State local's association is a testament to how important locals are to the longevity of the Miss America program. (NT)No name
