Subject: Is it me or are pageants more expensive than they’ve ever been?

You have pageant coaches charging thousands of dollars for only a few sessions. Photos cost thousands just for 4 edited pictures. Gowns are ridiculously high, with amounts being up to $10,000-$20,000. Fitness coaches are charging thousands for a few sessions. And resellers are charging almost the same price as they bought their stuff. I’m starting to feel that girls are being taken advantage of. I understand this is the industry but goodness, you spend way more to compete, and even winning doesn’t balance out the money spent. How can pageant girls cut down on expenses and do things more cost efficient while still being competitive?

Coaching is one of those things that doesn't make sense why they charge so much. Why would I want to pay someone for their one opinion on everything when im going to be judged by 5 random people? I want many opinions in my preparation. $5k for HMU for a show is ridiculous, and these artists make everyone look exactly the same. Pay attention to the winners of pageants - its pretty common for women to win without spending all that money. You truly don't need to break the bank, even though coaches say you do. (NT)No name

Don’t do it. You heed friends to help you. Family friends that interview people can help you. Win a local and let the local directors and committee help you. Photos don’t win. Don’t spend a fortune on wardrobe. There are so many gowns for sake worn less than five times and not outdated. Be creative. Be smart. Don’t overspend. (NT)No name

Miss Alabama USA 2021 was from a small town with limited resources who decided to compete for the first time in a pageant by watching old pageants and viewing tutorials on YouTube. She wore an inexpensive simple gown and proved you don't need to spend a lot of money to win. (NT)ureka smoke

What bothers me about coaching is some pageants (notably NAM) say on their web sites that coaching is not neededNo name
