Subject: my opinion is, with all the concern of online safety, they need to back OFF. Especially the teens. The internet is a DANGEROUS place.....Social media overuse has been proven to lead to anxiety and depression. It also opens them up to be bullied. Subject Author Date I mean, NY literally crowned an influencer. Like a professional influencer who makes her living off posting on social media. Very few of her posts (relatively speaking) have anything at all to do with the MAO. She has some pageant content, but even that isn't specific to the MAO. The girl has over 300K followers, most of whom are likely teens and young adults (given channel demographics) on You Tube and she's posting videos about spring cleaning, nighttime routines, and getting a new cat and repeating the same drab content on Instagram. NY had the girl who won Miss A and the crown went to a professional influencer. If the Org had hired a professional PR firm, the first thing they would have said was that Lauren should be producing about 10X more content about the MAO, even if she has to start a new channel to do it (like the Miss NY official instagram). Lauren could have literally vlogged her entire year, each video ending with "here's how you can compete." Instead, it's spring cleaning videos. I get that Lauren has a channel to pay her bills. But 10 years ago, Miss States took on the role of Miss State as a full-time job. And with Lauren's experience, there's no reason at all that she couldn't do the same -- speaking engagements, schools, performing her talent, traveling the state. She could have grown her own channel or created a new one to show off what being Miss State is really about.
