Subject: My best guess: the state board would step up to drive the gal there or to buy the cheapest plane ticket. Usually the contestant’s family is pushed into paying give the clause in the contract they have to sign before state that talks about their intent to advance aka their commitment to compete at nationals should they win. A lot of girls mistakenly think every expense for the year is going to be covered and that is far from the truth. Some states are not clear about expenses because they do not want to scare off contestants and they need as many gals to compete at state as possible

In reply to: 's message, "Well, just exactly what would happen if a contestant wins the state pageant in a state that has no national pageant budget and she and/or her parents say that Florida is not part of their budget this year. Does the girl lose her title and the scholarship that she won or does that state just not have representation that year?" on 07:11:16 08/29/25 Fri

A friend of mine was a state queen back in the late 70's. She said it was amazing how well she was taken care of during Miss America and the rest of her year. Unfortunately, I guess a lot has changed. (NT)No name
