The problem is when they reduced talent to only 20%, it opens the door for average talents to sneak in the top 10. This is why talent should be weighted at 30% and fitness reduced to 10%. People keep saying that talent doesn't matter in this competition, but it should matter. Miss America should be an exceptionally talented, well-spoken, intelligent, and relateable individual. What people continually forget, including Gretchen Carlson who nearly destroyed this prorgam by spouting off that "we will no longer judge a candidate on their physical appearance," is that as long as their is a final ballot in place, you will never get an unfit, unattractive Miss America. Yes, her performance was superb but her vocals were also spot on. The best talent of this years pageant and I would say the best vocalist we have heard at Miss America in a long time!
