In reply to: 's message, "Local in VA pulling out of Miss VA Organization" on 23:02:01 09/09/25 Tue

This is BAD news for growth in VA. Arlington board was responsible for Miss VA 2022, 2023, and 2025. In 2024 they had 3 of the Top 5, and we all know the state board forced the Arlington board into taking on a third title that year because of low participation.

EVERYONE in VA wants to compete at Arlington because of the prep they'll get from that board for Miss VA - its VAs largest local. Arlington gave out insane scholarships too. Like $2k per title. That's unheard of.

Looks like Arlington board took down their website (www.missarlingtonva.org) to replace it with their letter so can't see their list of sponsors now, but Arlington brought in way more sponsors than the state board does. Last year there were grumblings at Miss VA that the state board even tried to steal several of Arlington's sponsors. Shady AF behavior from Mark and Nancy.

Let's also talk about how this org is run by a bunch of 50-70 year old people who are adverse to change, can't use technology, and aren't following trends. Why wouldn't we want local and state orgs to be run by 30-something year old women who have actual real-world professional experience outside of the home? MAO will die with these old ass people if they keep shutting out every young volunteer and making poor business decisions.

You might want to consider the fact that the 50 - 70 year old people who run locals are the ones that have the time, energy, will and MONEY to actually produce a local competition. Seems to me that there aren't many 20 - 40 year olds who have the time, energy, will or MONEY to do the same. (NT)No name
