In Miss, the only returning runner-up from last year competing is Alanna Lynch. Katie Shields is competing in her home state for the first time in six years and first in Miss after a fourth runner-up finish in Arkansas last month. Caitlyn Stupi (Chafin), Miss Maryland 2016, is also competing after not competed last year due to her scheduled marriage.

This argument doesn’t really make sense. She’s a West Virginian by birth and spent the vast majority of her life there. Pretty confident she lived in TN for 4 months. I'm struggling to understand how someone who left West Virginia years ago, built their adult life in multiple other states, and has publicly promoted leaving West Virginia to "make something" of themselves is now being presented as a representative of our state on a national stage.
