It's a psychological thing. He was born to be one of them, for the sole purpose of raising their numbers. He was never meant to be loved- he was a tactic to gain power over worlds like this one that limit their power. If you have forgotten, they've tried to fight you before on your soil- and they have yet to suceed. This is because this land is... Sacred, in a way. We haven't figured out how yet, but we can be killed here and we are severely reduced in power here.

Anyway.... They despise him for no reason other than that he was unable to live up to their original plans, and not only did he get out, but he took the other two with him unknowingly. He set us back ages upon ages, and then not only was he a threat to us for seventeen years, but he surpassed us in power by becoming one of our patrons.
