Seperating BJs can be done, easily with a pickle fork (cheap from Harborfreight, pick one up, and a spring compressor), and less easily with a block of wood and a BFH.

The collar nut can be relatively easily removed with a big pipe (monkey) wrench and you may also need that same BFH. When I got my Bilsteins, they came with a tool for installing the new collar nut.
