Subject: I did alot in the 80's
In reply to: mdistel 's message, "Anyone raced at Nelson Ledges in OH before? Driving School..." on 23:36:05 06/21/02 Fri

I used to race E and F Production there and Mid Ohio in the 80's. Take lots of bug spray...

I haven't been there since the, oh probably early 90's even though it's less than an hour away, but back then is was not in any way shape or form a pleasant place for spectators. Pretty gross actually as far as out houses and so on goes.

But the track itself was always pretty good as far as racing goes. I still sit and watch my old videos of me racing from time to time.

I was told by somebody (Rob at Winners Cirle in Lakewood/Rocky River) last year that it was repaved a couple years ago. But as long as you stay on track, it's not bad (or at least wasn't). It's just the surrounding area that is rough. Meaning the paddock, access roads and so on.

I do recall that you don't want to go off at the exit of turn one. It used to be all rutted in the grass and that had a tendency to, um, well make cars roll...

You'll have a blast. Good luck - let us know how it goes.

Joe
