Subject: Anonymous demonstrates how quickly a Trump presidency will turn facist.

A few days ago, the mysterious hacker group Anonymous released a video supposedly containing Donald Trump’s identifying information, including his Social Security number, phone number, address, and several previous addresses. This was part of their war on Trump – they, like any rationally thinking person, sees Trump as a grave threat to the U.S. It turns out, however, that doxxing Trump wasn’t their plan, nor did they actually hack his information. They did something else entirely.

Trump’s information has been publicly available since 2013, according to the new video. He himself put his phone number on Twitter last summer. It’s been out there for more than two years. They didn’t actually do anything but look up a little-known website that may or may not contain actual personal information.

Regardless, the Trump campaign issued this statement :

“The government and law enforcement authorities are seeking the arrest of the people responsible for attempting to illegally hack Mr. Trump’s accounts and telephone information.”

BUT, Anonymous didn’t commit any crimes because they didn’t hack any information, and they didn’t release anything that wasn’t already out there. What was the point, then?

Actually, the point was very subtle, and far more insidious, but brilliant in its way. The purpose of “releasing” Trump’s information was actually to show how quickly he’ll call for the arrest of someone who crosses him, without verifying whether anything illegal has actually occurred, and what the U.S. could start to look like under a fascist like Trump.

With the hatred and vitriol he spews at anybody who disagrees with him, and how he attacks those people in any way he can, Anonymous has made a crucial point. We could say that they just pulled a fast one on all of America as a warning to us, but it looks more like demonstrations like this are how they plan to wage their war.

  - Many of Trump's supporters are the dregs of our society. However, some have been systematically brainwashed over the years by FOX news (and right wing media...including online hack sites). They got 'em so frothed up for years that many are simply unable to break the ties. It's become a part of their personalities. Years ago, I used to kid about opening detox centers for these folks. (NT) -- I think there will be a segment who finally come to the realization they've been lied to all these years.
