Which works have you read? I've read quite a few books by him (or at least started them), and I would agree, most of them aren't very impressive. The Historical Illuminatus Trilogy (of which I can only find the 1st & 2nd parts) is one of the better ones tho'. Don't confuse it with his Illuminati! Trilogy written with Robert Shea -- my friend and I joke about how that book appears to have been 'written' by placing each chapter, cut into individual paragraphs, into a hat where the Roberts took turns picking paragraphs with their eyes closed, and gluing them onto the pages. The Historical Illuminatus, on the other hand, is entertaining even without the conspiratorial overtones.

I also liked his one book that listed various conspiracy theories -- plausible or otherwise -- he has come across while researching his numerous writings. I cannot remember the title at the moment, but it was fairly interesting. Some of the theories were pretty humerous (John Hinckley (sp?) was really an android programmed to kill Pres. Reagan was quite funny).
