Matt jogged along the Beach, his feet sinking into the soft sand at odd intervals, slowing his progress. He could see a flash of gold, and turned towards it, seeing the queen fire-lizard and her clutch. He stared. The gold was as lovely as Rann said she was! He approached slowly, careful not to startle her.
Reaching Oriel’s nest, he went to one knee so as to be on the same level as the queen. He kept his distance, so she wouldn’t think he was threatening her, and smiled at her human. “Oriel.” He inclined his head. “May I be worthy of your golden egg?”
