Aghath deposits her rider next to R'nos. *Anything happen yet, Leth?* she asks, circling above the Sands. After trumpeting in greeting to the golden Kylith, she lands on the wall surrounding the Sands.

"What do you think of the Candidates?" Alara asks the brownrider, sitting next to him. She glances across the Hatching Sands, first counting the eggs. *Twenty-six!*

*We knew that already. Not enough males, though,* she adds. It was true, too. Out of the Candidates, Alara could only spot one. *Not a good ratio!*
