Kalya nodded. "Okay, you can go check, fine with me." She walked up to the vicinity of the eggs, her mind on dragons flaming Thread in the sky. Now she just had to wait for Channa to come. She had a feeling that the Hatching would start soon, and she hoped it was right.

Me, at a Hatching? An incredulous sense of wonder filled her. How lucky was she, to have overcome so much, and be at a Hatching, maybe even to Impress the golden queen on the sands, a creature with a like mind, who, if she Impressed her (or any other for that matter), would want to help and change Pern just as she did, made her skin fairly tingle with excitement.
