Yima relaxes, just a little, when the Weyrleader gives her his name. For some reason, she feels more comfortable with the knowledge. And he certainly seems friendly; while she won't trust that seeming yet, because she's met many men, dragonrider and Crafter and Holder, who can present themselves as far different then they really are, Yima is happy to take advantage of any friendliness he chooses to present whether it's sincere or not. Someone trying to act amiable will at first behave like someone who is amiable, after all, and so the initial results will be the same. When he extends his hand, Yima stares at it for a moment in contemplation before finally, reluctantly, extending her own hand in return. Politeness won't do her any harm. She clasps his hand and shakes it quickly but firmly, squeezing hard once and then pulling away as soon as she can do so without making it an insult and clasping her own hands back together behind her. She's not entirely pleased to hear that he'll have to consult with the Weyrwoman first, because she'd have liked to get in and out in a fairly short period of time, but Yima can understand the neccessity. Weyrs have always seemed to be joint operations, and it only makes sense to consult the person who will likely have faster access to the supplies (if these places are anything like Holds, and even if gold dragons rule here, Yima has no confidence in any man's ability to completely overcome Pernese misogyny). And her mind begins to race in speculation when T'bel invites her to join his Weyr meeting.

The corners of her mouth quirk upwards in what is presumably trying to be a smile, but would work a lot better if the rest of her face echoed it. She's not very good at polite expressions. The chuckle that precedes Yima's reply, however, is genuine. "Aaach, Weyrleader T'bel, you can just call them watchwhers or whers, and we're only their handlers. They're not really like dragons, or even firelizards." The amusement drops out of her voice as she turns to more important matters. "I understand that you have to talk to your Weyrwoman, but there are one or two things that I need as soon as you can arrange it, assuming she doesn't have a reason not to deal with us." If Yima were a bit more superstitious, she'd be crossing her fingers behind her back. The young whers need to eat soon, and children don't do so well without food, either. "And when is this Wingleader meeting? I'd be pleased to attend it." Especially if it has to do with fighting Thread, she adds silently to herself. If it's a meeting of Wingleaders, it probably will. The Weyr hardly needs watchwhers to guard its gates, and it's not big enough to have avalanches or rockfalls - or at least not many of the latter - so the kind of search-and-rescue operations Yima had specialized in won't be neccessary, but even just off the top of her head, she can think of ways for the watchwhers to help with Threadfall. She'll cover all the skills whers and their handlers have, of course, because even if she can't think of ways to utilize some of them, perhaps the dragonriders will. She really doesn't know much about dragons and Weyrs. R'ven's dragon is flying, but perhaps I could track down S'kar and pick his brains before the meeting, if I have time. That would help. She shifts her weight slightly, feeling exposed without Yimask with her, but business comes before comfort, and the gold watchwher would hate it in this loud, bright, bustling cave. This is not how caves are supposed to be, all lit up with glows and with a hearth in the corner. A hearth! With a fire burning in it!
