Once the unexpected fish have been sorted out, Gisella returns to the Lower Caverns, scanning the proceedings with a sharp eye. Everything seems to be in order for now, though her two firelizards will still be patrolling the Headwoman's domain, keeping a watch for trouble and baffling dragonriders who haven't yet realized that what they think is one omnipresent brown is actually a pair of identical firelizards who really do manage to be in two places at once by dint of there being, well, two of them. Gisella rather likes the impression this gives, and is sure to make sure that Ren and Tev never appear in the same room at once. With her watchful pets on patrol, the Headwoman is free to actually take a moment and mentally total up the number of youngsters she doesn't yet have to share with a hatchling dragon. The result, as always, comes out to far fewer than she would have liked, though she can't really blame them for wanting to Impress; Gisella herself had never entertained that dream for more than a Turn in her childhood, but then, she'd had the rule of an entire Hold to look forward to. Spying a group of three all sitting together, the middle-aged woman smiles and heads towards them.

Stopping by their table, Gisella pulls up a chair and sits down next to the group, giving them a friendly smile. Any pleasantness the smile might have brought to her face is rather ruined by her overly long nose and the way her bushy eyebrows hunch over grey-green eyes, but the friendly nature in which it is intended manages to come through anyway. Perhaps it's the fact that her wrinkles, while making her look rather older than she really is (not that she's young in the first place), also fall neatly into good-natured laugh-lines. She can be stern if she has to, but it's clear that the Headwoman prefers smiles to frowns. "I'm sorry you didn't Impress at this Hatching," she tells Ranee and Emilla, rather maternally. With Ciel so close, she has to be careful not to mother any of the girls too much, because she'll have to walk a fine line between caring for them and making sure they work. "And hello, Ciel. Your firelizard is in very good health." She pauses, waiting a moment so as not to sound to abrupt. Her smile alters, slightly, taking on the sharp edge of a predator scenting blood without actually being threatening. "On the other hand, I must admit that having a few girls still around in the Lower Caverns will be very helpful for me. What sort of things are you good at? Dragonriders need a lot of care, but I do promise I won't be overworking you, or asking you to do anything you can't." Gisella has learned from hard experience that waiting for the non-dragonriders to lend a helping hand, or even just asking them politely, tends to yield poor results. On the other hand, if she doesn't make refusal a choice, she tends to get the workers she needs out of them.

((For now, I'm going to assume that Ciel has been around long enough that Gisella would know her by name, but Ranee and Emilla she only recognizes as "Candidates, who obviously didn't Impress". If I'm wrong on how long any of the three have been around [and how much they'd been hanging around the Lower Caverns], feel free to correct me, and I'll fix in my next post. That's why she hasn't asked for their names yet. I promise that Gisella doesn't want to make them drudges; she's just short on workers anyway, and since you need something for them to do until the next Hatching, I thought that working under the Headwoman could be a sort of "filler" between more character-driven threads. Not to mention that Gisella really likes children [and yes, I know Renee and Emilla are older teenagers, but when you're 46, people in their early twenties are still children in your eyes]. Also, I don't mean to offend, but please allow me to repeat my plea for seperate character paragraphs, just so I can tell who's doing and saying what?))
