It's bright daylight outside; it had been kind of his rescuers, Hale reflects, to bring him all the way to the Weyr, but now they must wait until nightfall to join those other watchwher handlers that had been mentioned to him. Not that this is an entirely bad thing, he decides, raising his wine-glass and examining the sparkling vintage with clouded blue eyes. Even with these sharding cataracts, he can still recognize it as an excellent wine, through both taste and scent. I may as well make another test of its quality, though. I may have been befuddled before, he decides, and sips the rest of the glass. He's not worried about Halsk, even in the brightness of the Lower Caverns; the dragonriders had been very kind about that, as well, once they realized the difficulty. The small, aged watchwher, muddy brownish-green hide shading to greenish-grey around the edges, is ensconced safely in a small nearby closet, making a thorough mess of a bunch of furs, thick wherhide strapped over her eyes, no glows in the closet, and the door sealed as tightly as that strapping young bluerider had been able to manage. He was a pleasant young fellow; perhaps I will ask him to conduct me to the other handlers, after dark, Hale decides. What was his name again? Dorry? No, D'rai, I recall it now. D'rai. I shall ask for him later. He tips his glass again, only to discover it empty, and sighs in disappointment before looking around for a drudge or a kitchen worker to refill it. None show themselves, and Hale's gaze turns to the dragonriders and other folk at the nearby tables. There's a few pairs and trios talking quietly, a large cluster who are getting exceedingly agitated nearby, and- ah, there! A woman, of a decent age by what he can see of her through those sharded cataracts, sitting alone nearby. Surely she will not object to my company, and perhaps will help me obtain more of this excellent vintage! the old man decides, standing slowly and leaning on his cane as he shuffles over. Seating himself across from Rinali, he strokes his short, fading grey beard and smiles companionably at her. Not quite his age, he can see now. A good five, ten Turns younger. Ah, well. I'm not in pursuit of a life companion at my present age in any case. "Greetings, lovely lady," he exclaims, a surprisingly deep bass booming from the old but once powerful ribcage. "May I have the honor of your acquaintance? And, pray tell, could you perhaps inform me as to where I may acquire more of this excellent vintage?" He brandishes the wine glass hopefully.

((Yes, he really does talk like that. *snickers and pets him* It's fun to write, so I decided to stick with it after his first thought turned out like that. He had a crush on a Harper in his youth and she thought it was funny to teach him to talk like that, perhaps? *would probably do that if SHE was a Harper, at any rate... but is evil that way*))
