A mighty female voice was projected into the minds of S’peer, Scarth, Maria, Myth, Smith and K’mir. It wasn’t shouting – Lilith was far too dignified to shout – but her voice swelled, massive in their hearing. It was a tone designed to render humans and dragons alike speechless, and it had never failed yet. It certainly worked on S’peer and Scarth.

I will have no more of this. A simple statement, but one that nobody could possibly doubt. The queen radiated a sense of gold power into all the six minds, quelling any desire to speak. You will cease your bickering and arguments at this minute. S’peer and Scarth, if you do not wish to be transferred, you will keep quiet. Maria and Myth, the same applies to you – and no arguments, Myth. I want none of your drivel about not being able to trust queens. If she had been present, she would have glared at him, and all concerned. Smith. It was made clear to your rider that he was to leave the Weyr. He has overstayed his welcome here. Therefore you will call on a healer or drudge to take him back to his weyr, and when he wakes up tomorrow I expect you to have left. She was as hard as granite, all trace of her usual softness gone.
