Well, as long as we were punished by mother with a wooden spoon or sometimes by father with a belt, the “correction instruments” were kept openly where other wooden spoons and belts were kept: in a drawer in the kitchen or in my father's cupboard. When we later received our punishments with the cane, it was kept in my and my brother's room on top of the wardrobe. It was also used for my sister, but it was actually always on the wardrobe at our room. My brother and I always made sure that it didn't stick out so that others couldn't see it. However, it wasn't wise to push it too far back. If Dad didn't find it straight away, we could get one or two extra lashes.

If one of us children was to be punished, we had to fetch the instrument from the kitchen first, often already crying. [ Post a Reply to This Message ]
