In reply to: Bob 's message, "Curfew and Final Exams" on 20:01:41 06/20/25 Fri

I'd tell her I'm proud of her for asking me to hold her accountable to an earlier curfew, that knowing it would help her focus and prioritizing the upcoming exams is a sign of her maturity, especially since she's choosing to put herself at greater risk of being spanked.

Then I would point out that I recently chose to be forgiving of a minor curfew violation given how long it had been since her last one, but that if she needed an earlier curfew to help her apply herself more, I would be very strict about it. I would explain it wouldn't be as effective if it didn't feel like a firm boundary, and that meant I wouldn't let lateness slide for any reason until final exams were over, barring emergencies or unforeseeable obstacles... and she would have to communicate that as promptly as she was capable of if it happened.

Next we would discuss how to ensure she was home on time.

Probably not the response people expected from me, but I feel like 17 is old enough to consent to spankings, so this situation actually doesn't really bother me.

I would tell my daughter that an early curfew is a good idea during final exams and I will enforce it.

I would enforce it but if she missed by 10 or even 20
minutes I would like the other way. If she did miss by 30 minutes, I would give her a one day grounding. The grounding would help her focus in on her school work.
