You should write as a representative of your family and not say negative things about parents and other family members. Your parents are making what they think are the right decisions for you. Being 16, your well being is their responsibility. I went to work in my early teens and got a drivers license and a car a few months before my 16th birthday and my parents did not have much control over me. I made some terrible mistakes in my teens and 20s. I consider myself very lucky I never got a DUI or killed someone while driving intoxicated. Most 16 year olds do not make very wise decisions and still need to listen to the oncerns of their parents. [ Post a Reply to This Message ]

He always thought his parents were so backwards and plain dumb. Always wanted his to follow rules, get a good education, and stay out of trouble. But he tirned out to be very successful and at his 25th class reunion, he ran into an old friend he had not seen in a long time. The friend asked him how his parents were doing and if he was getting along with them any better than in high school. He told his friend, "You know back then, they were always on my ass and I really resented it. I thought they were so stupid. But after experiencing being an adult, having to pay for my own mistakes, making my way through the world, and raising children, it is amazing how wise they became in my mind once I left home." Your parents still have the responsibility to take care of you, raise you, keep you safe and out of trouble. You should be able to talk to them about anything, but the decisions are ultimately theirs to make. You also should have some responsibilities at times like watching your little sister.
