You're so right about the noise. IMO it's a very good deterrent for the other-ones when they can hear "that" noise.

About the corner-time it is first a familial tradition (hubby's side) but I feel also it's good for me and the child as we are both a bit upset at the end of the spanking and I don't want to comfort immediately after the last smack.

Is your 7 yo boy the more spanked from your two ? From my experience (I have also a 7 yo and a now 9 yo boy) boys that age need (fast beg) quite frequent spankings. And, for a chance, spankings work very well for them.
