Was just about to toss the single-file source I built and used for the ePub. But I thought I'd create a PDF and see if there was a size difference.
Turns out, Yeah.
Original A5 PDF: 541KB
ePub source file (as PDF): 456Kb
Not really a significant difference, and the single-file source has an up-to-date inner front page, but it's otherwise identical to the original, but 84 percent the size. An 85KB difference.
Given that it took me the best part of an hour to do, I'm not going to quibble over it. If we were all still using 2400 baud Dial-Up, then yeah, maybe. It'd take about half an hour to download the original, 25 minutes or so to download the smaller version.
To get the entire library at 2400 baud, 2398 hours, almost 100 days. At 56K, almost 100 Hours.
If I got the math right. I used an online calculator, I might have set it wrong.
I suck at math.
