A Christmas present for you all, more updates to the guide. We have a couple of Ones that Got Away (Arcade Paradise and Undead Darlings ~no cure for love~) and a couple with actual smoking (High on Life and The Outer Worlds).

The entry for The Outer Worlds was contributed by Anlagon13 over on SFK, so it's great to see others searching these out as well.

I hope to have a few more for you by the new year, but for now, on to the entries! The original link should still work as well, if you want the PDF.

Arcade Paradise

A love-letter to the arcade culture of the 90s. You play the new owner of a coin-op laundromat, which you gradually convert into a coin-op arcade. With smoke-filled arcades being such a big part of the 80s and 90s culture, one might hope for a significant amount of smoking in this game, but no luck; in fact, I found no tobacco references whatsoever, with the exception of a couple of no-smoking signs in the laundromat proper.

---

Undead Darlings ~no cure for love~

This is a dungeon-crawler in which a group of undead girls explore a post-apocalyptic urban landscape, battling groups of bizarre mutant creatures. Several of the creatures smoke, including birds smoking cigarettes and pipes, and an ashtray with a face, complete with surprisingly-realistic cigarette butts. There are also some smoking-related exchanges between the girls, such as the following.

Reggie: Pearl, this is an intervention.
Pearl: What? Did Jordan start smoking again?
Jordan: Wh-?! Give me a break! That was one time, and it was for a video on my blog! I was being a character!

Despite all this, I could not find any examples of humans smoking, either male or female, alive or undead.

High on Life

This is a First-Person Shooter set primarily on an alien world. Cigarettes and ash trays can occasionally be seen scattered around the levels, but there is very little actual smoking. The one instance of smoking I did find is by the Player Character’s sister, when she breaks up with her alien boyfriend. Depending on earlier choices made by the player, this can either be an “emotional” version where she breaks up with him after a talk, or a “bad-ass” version where she brutally murders him after a kidnapping attempt. In the “emotional” version, there is dialog where the player’s talking-gun sidekick is shocked that she is a smoker. (Given the attitude of said sister and that she opens the game snorting coke, I would have been much more surprised if she wasn’t...)

The Outer Worlds

“Playing the Outer Worlds game and it has some smoking content in it. You see several npcs smoking in it. Also you can buy cigarettes for your own use, though no smoking animations on player characters. Plus I found at least one smoking related quest in it.”
