Carl,
Do yourself a big favor and learn the swing with your current clubs first.
I started out with offset, off the shelf King Cobra II's that persons on this board said could not be used for NG.
I had limited success with NG and then I went to see an NGCI that now answers questions on NG's "Ask a NGCI" board. He had read my questions on this forum and picked up my KC II's and hit the 9 iron about 160 dead straight. He said, "these clubs will work well for NG".
That did not end my equipment struggles, I currently still own the G2 and the P3 demo clubs. I decided to get new clubs anyway and gave the KC II's to my 15 yr old son.
(Not because they did not work for NG, but because I had a hole buring in my pocket and it was either him getting new clubs or me. I chose ME.)
After trying many clubs and going to a NG demo day and several club fittings I settled on the Adams GT Irons. I had also tried clubs from Cobra, Ping, Callaway and Cleveland. Golf Galaxy was tired of seeing me!!
Guess what? What worked best for me was 1 degree flat (yes flat, NOT upright), standard length, with an oversize Winn grip.
I had written a question on this forum that asked, "if you use NG during a swing fitting with a club fitter wouldn't those clubs be set up for NG?" I now know the answer through experience, YES!!!
So, DO NOT purchase anything until you get the swing down, spend your money on lessions. A bad swing with good equipment is still a bad swing!!!

By the way here is my equipment profile
Driver Callaway 9 degree Stealhead (looking
to replace it. I get more distance with
my 15 degree Quad Pro). Any suggestions
out there?
Cleveland Quad Pro 15 degree and 19 degree woods
Adams GT Irons 3-PW
Purespin Sand wedge
Seemore putter
Son
Purespin 10 degree driver
Taylor Made 15 degree Rescue Club
Adams I-wood 21 degree
3-SW King Cobra II
Purespin Attack Wedge
Zebra TD-4 putter

And another bag of junk in the garage!

Good luck,
CraigM.
