I'm Curious.

I haven't tried all of the methods (BGG, Heard Swing, etc). I have tried the LOBG (like most) and most recently am trying to follow the instruction in Todd Graves latest tapes.

Todd most definitely promotes the swing as arm-generated.

I have never video-taped myself, but my guess is that if I did I would find that my body moved before my arms.

For those involved in this discussion, have you taped yourself trying the various methods out there and noticed a pronounced difference regarding which body-part moved first? (Taking into account only successful swings)

This debate is interesting, but I wonder if we're arguing over an issue that amounts to nothing.

Also, do you guys consciously try to focus on initiating the downswing or just set up and rip it - allowing the mechanics to take care of themselves?
