So at the top the clubface would be closed, but with that grip the clubface would also be square to the swing path throughout the entire swing.

The weaker lead hand grip may help if you are having problems duck hooking, but most hacks here, and on any other golf board, are having the opposite problem, slicing, not hooking!

They are also having problems not holding the angle into impact, (just look at a slo-mo of almost every amatuer on the NG informercials) not problems with the release. Why have them doing drills where you are having them foricibly unhinge the trail wrist, and imbedding that move into your subconcious, when holding the hinge is what is needed!
