Subject: hitting ground

I have just started NG. My two trips to the range proved that NG seems to be for me. I am having a lot of trouble with my tee shots. I keep hitting the groud behind the ball.
Is there a simple fix. I place the ball in front of my left foot and play the club from center of body.
