I know the problems :-) You can't fit anyone perfectly through e-mails. I don't believe anyone can.

A buyer has to know what lie angle he needs and only a dynamic lie test will tell them or give them a good idea - many are new and don't setup consistant and are playing around with setup parameters looking for the one they like.
If they can do the test and get close with their component design they can be bent after and end up with a great set of well balanced clubs. All of us should check our lies as we go from method to method and continue to change.

Given the 2-4° average, it has to be checked. I'm only 6' tall and I need 4°up. Fortunately for us we've been through this and know what we need but only because we test and/or watch our divots.

I would suggest the same if he likes the PC3 - aim for 4-5° up (if his wrist to floor matches his height) - seen here:
http://www.atlasgolfonline.com/club_length.htm

Myself I'd suggest getting the Dynacraft CU or the LCGII at 1.5" overlength due to his height and having it bent for a few extra dollars when he gets them. They are both made with 431 stainless that can be adjusted 2-3°. Myself and others in forums and reviews find that the CU is more forgiving than the PC3. I find the PC3 more attractive and it looks like the Ping and may play just as well but it does not have the same forgiving, low center of gravity of the other 2 models. A personal preference - everyone likes a different style. This may not make sense to many because the PC3 can be had 3°upright out of the box. Much like accuracy over distance, I prefer forgiving heads and will pay the extra for the lie bend - side benefit of this is a perfect fit.

I think your guess is very good and a good place to start but I hope a dynamic lie test is used for the final result....trencher
