You have abviously missed the point.Twenty thousand people died from preventable deseases as a result of the blockade, compared to 2,000 that were direct casualties of the conflict.Since it was the PNG government that imposed it, who do think is the bigger murderer then? What is 2,000 compared to 20,000? Most of these were summarily executed by the PNGDF, who had more ammo, more fire power and were more mobile.

What gives you the right to equate Bougainville with Haiti and not Haiti with the other nations in the Pacific and African states? The same fate awaits all those who ignore the warning signs of their land. Picking on Bougainville, just because they are blacker than most, is ignorance at its worst and suggests a racially biased an presumptuous mentality.

Ona's own battle was for an environmental cause, and the objective remains the same. The war spared Bougainville from the massive deforestation that the rest of PNG now contends with. Look at PNG's capital, Port Moresby, and you will see that PNG is a better candidate to equal Haiti, followed closely by the Solomons Islands.

Environmental disasters are not unique to Haiti. Its more pronounced in Haiti becasue of the demand on the carrying capacity of the land by unsustainable population size.In Australia alone, the coast of rising salinity level is $10billion annually, in addition to another $15Billion due to acid sulfates in the soil. All these were caused by man, white settlers inthis case.
