65 miles (100 km) SSW of Mount Hagen, New Guinea, PNG

The following is a release by the United States Geological Survey, National Earthquake Information Center: A strong earthquake occurred about 65 miles (100 km) southwest of Mount Hagen or 305 miles (490 km) northwest of Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea at 3:23 PM MST today, Mar 3, 2000 (Mar 04 at 8:23 AM local time in Papua New Guinea). A PRELIMINARY MAGNITUDE OF 6.7 WAS COMPUTED FOR THIS EARTHQUAKE
