GIVING FIRST IS THE TRADITIONAL WAY. NOT RECIEVING FIRST.
I THINK THAT IS ONE OF THE GOOD ASPECTS OF PNG BEFORE.
A REAL TRAIT OF THE MELANESIAN WAY THAT IS NOT SEEN IN WESTERN SOCITIES SO MUCH.

AT FIRST THIS ASPECT OF GIVING BEFORE RECEIVING WAS EXPRESSED IN EVERYDAY MODERN THINGS, SUCH AS GETTING ON A PMV AND PAYING AT THE END OF THE SERVICE, NOT THE BEGINNING. NOW HOWEVER, THIS TRADITIONAL BEAUTY HAS BEEN DESTROYED. PEOPLE HAVE STARTED CHEATING THE SYSTEM BECAUSE THERE IS NO ACCOUNTABILITY LIKE BEFORE. SO NOW MANY TIMES WE NOW PAY WHEN WE GET ON THE PMV RATHER THAN AT THE END OF THE TRIP. THIS GOOD THING WE HAD IS NOW DISAPPEARING UNDER WESTERN INFLUENCE AND OUR ASSOCIATED APPEARANCE OF GREEDINESS.
