Anytime you depend on nature for a portion of your food source you are hunting and gathering. It is the same with the catching of seafood from the oceans. You are tracking down(hunting) the schools of wild fish and then netting them(gathering). So the term hunters and gathers continues to be found throughout the world, even in advanced countries. This is not a demeaning description. It is the verb that explains how some food is secured verses farming it.
