Interesting question. At one level it might seem they aren't. But maybe this absence is only an illusion. Maybe the overdominance of men on the social system masks a less obvious but still present clanism of women too.

As PNG women get more educated (will the men let them), I'm pretty certain they will organise in the same way as educated women everywhere in the world have begun to organise.
