Subject: The Big Lie And Divine Word

This article below from the paper yesterday reminds me of Divine Word. Of course these fast money operators do not have the money. But when you are caught in a lie, tell a bigger lie. Caught in that lie, tell a bigger lie. That one does not work, tell a bigger one.

I sat across the desk from Fr. Jan Czuba and told him that if he did not resign, then I would resign. He told me that I could not resign. That he was a lawyer (bigger lie) and I was under contact, and I could not resign. I said, "You are a lawyer and have had at least a year of contracts?" He said "Yes". And so it went. I resigned anyway. I ask Fr. Pat Gesch if Fr. Jan Czuba was really a lawyer. Fr. Pat said, and I quote, "If he says so." (bigger lie).

And, mark my words, it will end the exact same way, with yet a bigger lie. When the situation at Divine Word finally caves in, it will not be their fault. It will be the government's fault. I have already seen them do it. Just tell the bigger lie.

U-Vistract delays payout
By ISAAC NICHOLAS
Quick money scheme operator U-Vistract Financial Corp (UVSA) may further delay its payout to clients and taxes to the government by at least one month due to lack of action by the Bank of PNG and the government.

UVSA chairman Meshach Autahe said yesterday that the company was all set to begin making payments before the start of the school year to clients and the government.

This could not be done, he said, because the central bank has not approved the opening of UVSA accounts with commercial banks and the transfer of funds for the payout.

Mr Autahe said having complied with several demands imposed by BPNG, the company had been waiting since Jan 12 for the central bank to authorise the remittance of UVSA funds into the country and the opening of at least one special UVSA account with a commercial bank to facilitate payout.

He said apart from furnishing a comprehensive report on the activities of UVSA to the Prime Minister and BPNG in compliance to the bank's demands of Sept 10, 1999, UVSA also furnished BPNG with its overseas bank account details and its express authorisation for BPNG to have restricted
access to information on the account.

According to Mr Autahe, BPNG refused to access the account and now demands to have the details of investments made by UVSA clients.

He said the company declined to furnish client investment details to protect the rights of its clients.

Mr Autahe claimed that certain BPNG officials have treated UVSA's efforts to expedite payout to clients and the government with prejudice and contempt.

He said the officers have subjected UVSA to their personal views, describing their attitude as "supercilious and rancorous".

In an effort to fast track BPNG's facilitation of the payout before the start of the school year, he said
the company had made representations to the Office of the Prime Minister, Office of the acting Treasurer and also the Office of the Parliamentary Committee on Government Investments.

Despite consistently following up on the submission, the company, according to Mr Autahe, had not received any formal response from the government to its initial submission, which was lodged on Dec 12, 1999.

"As one can see, BPNG is holding back the payout to clients by making unreasonable demands on the furnishing of a bank statement when we have already provided them not only with bank account details but also gave our express permission, in black and white, for them to have unrestricted access
to information on the account."
