Whoa, when have I not been honest, NU?

Anyway, a thread of this topic also exists at the UMaine board, and repeat what I said there:

I've given up on sports prognosticating and such mags in general. Accurate predictions cannot be done, and on the rare instance that it IS done, while I don't doubt their knowledge on sports, the correct guesses have more to do with luck than skill. The intangibles in sports far outweigh the tangibles, and considering the parity in I-AA football, there's precious little science in predicting sports outcomes. I care far more about what the athletes have to say about the outcomes than the writers, because they actually HAVE a say in the outcome.

Instead of writing "this is the team that's going to win," I'd be far more interested in "this is what Team A/Team B has to do to win." At least the latter doesn't insult my intelligence.

Leave the progonsticating to the meteorologists, which, as a group, are found to be 85% accurate. When sports prognosticators reach that level, let me know. Until then, I wish they would shut up and let the athletes tell me the outcome.
