Irvine nods and tips his hat to the returning ladies, flipping the notebook shut and slipping it into a pocket inside his jacket as he moves away from the table to place their orders with the kitchen.

The group gets bigger? What in the world could she have meant by that? I've got a good job here, and it would be madness to give it up for no good reason. He laughs at himself, ripping a page off the notebook and handing it to one of the chefs. If that's true, Kinneas, why do you have your gun hidden away in your locker in the back room, even though the boss told you not to?

He picks up the drinks and balances them on a tray, pushing out the door to the kitchen and heading back to the table, setting the tray down without spilling a drop.
