Yes, it added to embarrassment much. I tried to cover privates with hands and somehow hide my erection from everyone (and all other boys with the same problem did it too) but of course it was useless.
I don't remember that girls say something about it, but I remember well that they were smiling when we were coming to them and they saw it. They didn't let us to cover privates when when they started to wash us, so it was impossible to hide it.
Speaking of washing, there were no difference if there was erection or not - without hesitation they soaped up their palm with sponge and grabbed privates - usually first testicles then thingie itself, then groin area.
I can say that it was most unpleasant part of bathing.
