As I recall, after we made the decision and my husband (within a few days) made the new little paddle we did remark on how she would be in for "an old fashioned spanking," or a "spanking with the paddle." It clearly didn't sink in until the first one actually happened though.

As for when it was time for me to use the paddle for the first time, I don't recall it being much harder on me than to give any previous (hand) spanking. To me, giving a spanking was ALWAYS a bit difficult, but I believed in them so always followed through in the end. Nevertheless, I do recall just before the first paddling, looking down at a soft, unprotected bottom on my knees, and a small, but hard, flat piece of wood in my hand. I knew what needed to happen, and though (as always) the spanking hurt me too (just differently) she got no more nor less than a good memorable paddling, and an angry red bottom.
