When your DD first starts in open, consider it a victory if they no longer get their "regular comments" ex:"more turn out", "more stamina", etc- whatever they generally get.

Once they no longer/rarely get whatever comment has been plaguing them in open, that is a definite win AND a step forward into eventually placing.

It's a harder road once they start dancing in Open in their teens, but it can be done.

Don't focus on the big wins, focus on the small ones. The placements will come.
