Subject: School dresses

Does anyone’s school have a sort of school dress lending system? If so, how does it work? A group of dance moms at my school wants to buy up all the old school dresses floating around from people who no longer dance/switched schools so that we don’t have to buy new ones and we’ll have bigger sizes as the girls grow, but I’m not sure how we set this up. Do we split the cost of all these dresses (I’ve found about 7 of them so far)? Do we have a one time fee to have access to this collection? Is this not a good idea for some reason we may be overlooking? Would love some insight if you have this or have considered it!

The school I danced at in the early 2000s in Western Canada did this. I think the parent association technically owned the school dresses, and we paid a fee each year to rent them (something like $100/yr, I think) (NT) -- Senior dancer, 23:47:17 03/01/24 Fri
I wouldn’t personally buy the dresses and put that on yourself. If the school wants to start doing that, perhaps those who bought dresses keep them but new dancers rent. -- -, 01:14:08 03/03/24 Sun

Our school does this. Costumes are owned by our parents association. All dancers have to rent their costume through the parents association. There are a few levels of rental. Tracking system. Contracts. Etc. I’d be happy to talk further with you about it! (NT) -- ADCRG, 21:00:12 03/11/24 Mon
