Excellent questions with no easy answers. As individuals all we can do is be in tune with family and friends to get a sense of how their marriages are going and seeing if one spouse or the other is having difficulty staying on task. In those instances get the courage to share our experience with domestic discipline and how it has worked in our marriage and offer to have follow up discussions if they are interested. These kinds discussions will depend on the geographic region at least in the USA. As to your second question, I can not stress enough the importance of establishing clear and open lines of communication not matter the topic or chance to hurt feelings.
