Subject: Boo the fans!!!!!

I sat back and watched Siena's last two losses at the arena and much like the people reading this was very dissapointed in the performance on the court. What was even more pathetic than the display by the Saints players was the performance of the fans. You'd think that with a meager 5,500 on board on a Monday night, you could get some kind of a noise flow going to support the home team. But what did we hear instead??? The sound of 20, nine year old girls rooting for Rider throughout the entire game. The only time that noise was broken was when a guy in section 207 sneezed, and I heard someone say "bless you" from across the court. The only peep that I heard from the Siena fans was the booing of the officials, coaches and players for their shaky performance. Now I know what you're thinking.. you paid good money to see quality basketball and you didn't get it. Well you know what - you paid to see some kids 18-22 years old play basketball, not some professional player who earns millions of dollars a year to shoot a jump shot. If you want something where you will get a performance which will always match what you paid for a ticket dollar wise.... here's my suggestion: Stay Home, save your ticket money, and wait for the Ice Capades to come to town again so you can sit back in your retro-Siena sweater and not say a word for 2 hours - because hey, you might distract the skaters. For the rest of you true Siena fans, take a look around then next game and see how many people sit silently with their arms folded and think to yourself... are we really giving our team a home court advantage?? Cut the coaches and players some slack or you never know, you could be the first fans in the history of basketball to get booed out of the arena by the team you came to cheer on. Peace
