Subject: Good game today. Marist/Rider losses make today look worse than it is.

Tough, hard fought game on both ends. Two pretty evenly matched teams that are going to be on the NIT bubble. With the expanded field and if both Iona and Siena can get to 18+ wins, they both should be right there.

Things that stand out in the first half are half a dozen layups missed by Miller and Brent. Prosper would have had his triple-double had Miller and Brent converted some great entry passes from Pros. Looks like Prosper had 20/12/7 - with 7 turnovers. His hands are on the ball so much that he's going to turn it over. Other than that, the first half was all defense on both ends.

Second half was much of the same. Each team would have a three or four minute run of decent offense, but neither could put a run together.

Again, Jamal Jackson killed the Saints with his ineffectiveness of getting the Saints into any sort of offensive rythm - didn't see him penetrate the zone once. He's also a lousy defensive ball player. I can't seem to understand why he perpetually runs into the man with ball while he's trying to guard him. McCullough was out of control racing down the court and had no lane to the hoop or any type of trail man on the play - Jackson decided it was best to bump him at the foul line and put him at the stripe with 27 seconds left. McCullough was in no-man's land with nowhere to go.

Siena's last offensive set was nothing to write home about. Prosper tried to get the ball to Haddix on the block, but Haddix was triple teamed. I though Prosper made a pretty good play by taking the 18 footer from the corner with about 8 seconds left - time enough to foul if Iona rebounded and Siena had Andrews, Jordan and Mitchell on the weak side for the offensive rebound. Andrews had his hands on it but had it blocked on the way up, somehow Haddix cam down with it at the foul line with 3 seconds left. He had more time to get a better look, but his off balance scoop shot nearly went down anyway. It was a very entertaining game. The two losses last week make this one worse than it was. How much better would we all be feeling if Siena was 16-6 rather than 13-9? What a difference 3 games make in February.

Saints are going to be in a dogfight for 4th - it'll come down to the Niagara game at home. If Saints can right the ship, I believe their last couple of games are against the bottom of the league.

Also, MAAC officials have no idea how to officiate post play. Brent gets called for fouls in MAAC games that weren't fouls in the Xavier/PC games. The officiating today was very poor in the post - Brent, Miller and Fields from Iona weren't allowed to do much.
