Subject: On the subject of arenas, Fairfield's experiment has been a bust.

Chris Russo, from the Mike & the Mad Dog show, summed it up pretty good a few weeks back: "They're getting 1500 in a 9000 seat arena when their gym on campus seats 2000."

That place has to be losing money hand over fist. From what I remember, The Pepsi barely breaks even getting 7,000 for home games. Fairfield's new arena is beautiful - it would look great in Loudonville. But unless they have St. John's in every year to get 5000 (half of which are Johnnie fans) it makes absolutely no sense for them to play there. I'm not trying to knock Fairfield, but they should have done what Siena did up until 6 or 7 years ago: Play all their games on campus, and play 2 or 3 games per year at The Yard. Until they can prove the demand for FF tix outweigh the capacity of their home court.

There are going to be more Tuesday night games vs. SPC/Rider/Loyola than there are games against a St. John's.

The MAAC tourney will do better at Bridgeport than it will do at Trenton.

If FF could get 3,000 per game at The Yard, it might be worth it - but they're better served playing on campus.
