The midway greatly varies in terms of sightings. I did exceptionally well there in Missouri this past weekend, and even at the Minnesota State Fair two years ago, I had a tour of the midway that yielded five excellent sightings in one night. As a general rule though, as young people have moved away from smoking, it's not the best place on the fairgrounds for sightings the way it was 15 years ago.

Duluth is an hour down the road from Hibbing. There is some overlapping culture between the two because of the taconite connection. Hibbing, along with the other towns of the Iron Range, is a gritty mining town where 95+% of the population is white and working-class. The taconite mined in Hibbing and the rest of the Iron Range is then shipped to Duluth where its shipped from the Lake Superior ports, meaning there's a fair degree of blue-collar kinship when you take away Duluth's college town culture. Makes it easier to see why smoking remains relevant both places. I'm holding out some hope for the Minnesota State Fair this weekend and next because I think northern Minnesota is behind the curve on the vaping trend. With luck, your statistics on Hibbing and Duluth, and other places north of the Twin Cities, will help me prevent collapse at the MNSF because I think I'm totally screwed as it pertains to the Twin Cities metro area, particularly Hennepin County.
