I tried clearing the PRAM. Same error message at the end of startup: "Disk initialization failed because the disk is locked!"

I rewired the SCSI cable. Same error at the end of startup.

I hooked up a CD-ROM and booted from the OS 8.5 CD (using a PDS 6300 logic board). I had the SCSI hard drive connected to the SCSI port simultaneously. Same error at the end of startup.

I can only think of two other options: scrap this CC and start over with a "new" one or connect a pre-formatted MacOS IDE hard drive and see if it is recognized.

Anyone have another idea? Am I really the first one to encounter this problem? Anyone have a pre-formatted MacOS IDE drive they want to sell cheap?! :-)

Thanks for the help...
