Damn sewing needles. I tend to agree with your analysis that the damage is probably permanent.

This is one reason I don't like to Dremel too much around electronics, because the dust is conductive and can cause shorts. I always blow everything off thoroughly after doing any work that might create metal bits or shavings.

Just FWIW, I did another CC VGA mod this afternoon. Worked beautifully - only had to move the image slightly to the right once it was done. That's the least adjusting I've ever seen necessary.

Interestingly enough (though it's not a surprise), Mac OS 8.1 offers the choice of 800x600, 56Hz, with the VGA mod. I tried it, and it needs a LOT more adjustment, which I wasn't feeling particularly inclined to mess with since I already had the CC fully reassembled at the point when I discovered it. One of these days when I have some time, I'll see about getting 800x600 to work, and see if it's really 800x600 or just a distorted 640x480.
