"For as much $ as you will put in a Mystic to do this, (the extra ethernet card and a license for IPnetRouter), you can buy a 4 port Linksys cable modem router and have a fast
network with 1 ip address and firewall protection to boot. (You can find Linksys 4 port routers on eBay for under $100.)"

I couldn't have said it better myself. With IPNetRouter costing something like $60 for a 68K version, I can't imagine why anyone would want to spend the extra *electricity* every month to run a computer when they could run a router that would do the job faster and better and use maybe 15 watts of power instead of 150 or so.

Most people's DSL or cable connections won't do more than about 512Kbps, though, which makes it a reasonably viable proposition if you can't possibly get a router or feel like doing things the hard way :)

Just 'cause *you* have a 5Mbps connection... :-p

Seriously, though, I know a lot of people using IIci or IIcx boxen running NetBSD as routers. They love 'em, and they swear they're as fast as a low-end 10BaseT hardware router. If a IIci can do it acceptably fast, I *know* a Mystic can :)
